Depending on picking conditions, the Strawberry Patch is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with two options for obtaining berries. You can head out to the patch to pick your own berries or call ahead and reserve pre-picked berries. Strawberry season runs for about 3 weeks from mid-June to early-July so don’t delay, or you may find yourself out of luck, because when they’re gone, they’re gone.

The Apple Barn Orchard and Winery recommends that you always call ahead to check on picking conditions before making the trip out. Be sure to take some time to check out their store while you are there. It is literally filled with goodies galore including Wisconsin cheese, honey, salsa, jellies and jams.

Plan to spend as much or as little time as you like. This is just a great and affordable way to spend a nice day with friends and family.

48th Annual Elkhorn Fireman’s Dance

The Elkhorn Firehouse will be a busy place this Saturday, June 16th as they host the 48th Annual Elkhorn Fireman’s Dance. Food service begins at 5:00 p.m. with barbecue ribs, burgers, hot dogs and shredded chicken and pork sandwiches.

Tickets are $5 per person or 3 for $10. Live music begins at 5:00 p.m. with Novy Spinners, a two- piece band from the Milwaukee area. Wisconsin’s popular Cherry Pie takes the stage at 8:00 p.m. bringing lots of energy and great dance music.

Supporting our local first responders is a great way to let them know that you appreciate their service to our communities.

Walworth County Dairy Breakfast…

The 42nd Annual Walworth County Farm Bureau’s Dairy Breakfast is this Saturday, June 16th, so plan to head to the Walworth County Fairgrounds in Elkhorn.

The dairy breakfast is being served from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and consists of deluxe scrambled eggs, pancakes, and sausage along with juice, coffee and of course, milk. There will be lots of great food available, so make sure you arrive hungry. Another dairy favorite is scheduled to make an appearance for the event, so plan to leave some room for ice cream.

Free bus rides to a nearby dairy farm will allow you to tour the farm and then return to the Fairgrounds to enjoy the small animal display, a craft fair, farm exhibits and a coffee cake contest. Tickets are $7.00 in advance and $8.00 at the breakfast. Children under 5 are free.

This is an affordable, fun filled family friendly event. Plan to spend some time on the farm this Saturday morning. Your kids will love it!

Pedal and Cup…

Located on Hwy 120 just a few miles north of downtown Lake Geneva is the Pedal & Cup. This building constructed in 1910 was originally the site of the Springfield Train Depot and is now home to a quaint business offering bike rentals, lunch specials, smoothies and gourmet coffees and teas.

The location is also a great place to do a little shopping if you are looking for a unique gift for that special someone in your life. They carry a wonderful selection of gifts items including rugs, scarves, jewelry, soaps and salts, notecards and more, all made by local artists. Forgot your sunscreen and bug repellant? No problem, the store stocks a variety of those as well.

The historic building sits directly on the Wisconsin White River State Trail which runs from Burlington to Elkhorn and is a popular fairly level grade 11.5 mile path, making it perfect for cyclists, walkers and joggers. As a State Trail, anyone over the age of 16 is required to have a pass, which can be purchased before you get ready to ride. Bicycle rentals are available for all ages and include a bike helmet.

They are open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (weekends only) through September 3rd. Plan to stop in and check them out. If you have a bike, bring it. If not, rent one, grab a snack and go for a ride.

Lake Geneva Jaycees Annual Sandbox Fill…

Hey folks, do you have a sandbox in your backyard that could use some fresh new sand? If so, this is your lucky day!

The Lake Geneva Jaycees are currently taking requests for sand which they will be delivering on Saturday, May 19th starting at 8:00 a.m., and did we mention that the sand and the delivery is FREE? You heard us, it’s FREE! Just complete this Request Form to get your name on the schedule.

Sand is being generously provided by Otto Jacobs and the manpower is donated by the Lake Geneva Jaycees. While they are offering to provide you with free sandbox sand, they do ask that you consider a donation to the Jaycees. They welcome donations in any amount, but ask that you consider that the donors provide the sand, trucks, time and fuel when deciding on an amount.
